The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies have arrested eight suspected cultists.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, on Wednesday said the operatives during the operation that led to the arrest of the cultists also recovered one long locally made Dane gun; three locally made double barrel pistols; one live cartridge; two knives; one jungle army camp beret; one red beret; two police belt; one Shisha smoking pot, and substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.
According to Tochukwu, the operation was carried out in the late hours of March 23, 2021, at many criminal hideouts in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, during which the following suspects: Ugbe Lucky ‘m’ 27; Ekene Ebubeze ‘m’ 38; Somto Chukwu ‘m’ 25; Ifeanyi Eze ‘m’ 22; Chika Nnekezie ‘m’ 31; Chidi Amadike ‘m’ 26; MMaduabaka Obidiazor ‘m’ 30, and Chinemelum Okeke ‘m’ 19, were arrested.
Tochukwu stated that the Commissioner of Police in the state, MB Kuryas, while praising the joint patrol team led by the Area Commander of Ihiala for a gallant performance, reassured Ndi Anambra that the command would be relentless in taking the battle to the doorsteps of criminals hell-bent on fomenting trouble in the state and bringing them to book.
