Police operatives in Kogi State have arrested 56 suspected hoodlums, who broke into and looted the state Medical Store and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture Warehouse.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ayuba Ede Ekpeji, said the suspects are cooperating with police operatives, adding that the efforts would lead to the recovery of all items stolen from the affected places located at Lokoja.
Ekpeji, speaking during a press conference in Lokoja on Wednesday, however, refuted the rumour milking around town that a senior military personnel was killed in Lokoja on Tuesday night.
He urged members of the general to disregard the news saying that the news about the soldier death was fake as his investigation had revealed.
It was gathered that residents around Murtala Mohammed Way and its environs have been apprehensive when they heard the news of a suspected hoodlum killing a soldier. Some residents were said to have fled their homes in fear of army invasion.
