The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has congratulated Dr Alex Chioma Otti, Abia State Governor-elect over his victory at the poll.
“A while ago, I spoke with my brother, Dr Alex Otti @alexottiofr, the Governor-elect of Abia State, and heartily congratulated him on his election.
“I am gratified that the will and wish freely expressed by the Abia electorates have been respected.
“I pray for God’s guidance and protection for the incoming Governor of God’s Own State,” he said.
Obi delivered his message on his Twitter page while celebrating with Otti on Thursday.
Obi expressed happiness that the Will of the people prevailed, and prayed to God to guide the Governor-elect.
On Wednesday, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, announced the Abia State governorship election results after much delay and controversy that trailed the Obingwa local government area votes.
Nnannaya-Oti declared Otti the winner on Wednesday evening at the resumption of the final collation of governorship election results in Umuahia, the Abia State capital over 48 hours after INEC suspended the exercise.
Otti polled 175,467, Ahiwe scored 88,529 and Nwafor got 28,972.
Labour Party’s Oti defeated his PDP opponents, of Okey Ahiwe, and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP).
