Residents of Olubo, Idi emi, Imeko-Afon, Ilara areas of Ogun State have protested the abduction of four travellers in the area.
It was learnt that the travellers were kidnapped on Tuesday night at Olubo Village on Ayetoro-Ilara Road in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The protesters were said to have trooped to major roads where they hamper vehicular activities, resulting in many travellers stranded.
Few days ago, a businesswoman, Roselyn Edusi and her guest were also kidnapped in Omu, Ofada in Obafemi-Owode LGA of the state.
It was gathered that five other passengers who were travelling in the same Toyota Avensis Commercial SUV with number plate FFF 654 TK were, however, spared.
Two of those spared, Iswat Akewugberu and Rofiat Oladeinde, said the incident happened around 8 pm on Tuesday night.
They said they were accosted by four gunmen, who shot into the air repeatedly.
According to them, the hoodlums abducted the driver and three women who were selected randomly among the passengers, adding that the abductors spared one Fulani and two Hausa passengers, among them.
Oladeinde said in Yoruba, “They collected our money and our handsets before they led the captives into the forest.”
Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, operations in the state, Muritala Bolanle was at the spot where the victims were abducted.
He arrived at the scene around 12 noon on Wednesday in a police helicopter marked 5N-GEJ, promising that they would arrest the abductors.
He said, “We are going after the abductors, that is why we are here. We shall definitely get them.”
