The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested three members of a suspected robbery syndicate terrorising Mowe and its environs.

It was learnt that the suspects were apprehended on Monday October 18, 2021.

The suspects are Daniel Okereke, Henry Osagwe and Wisdom Atuba.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi noted that the suspects were arrested following an information received by the policemen attached to Mowe Divisional headquarters.

He said around 10 pm, the division got an information that a group of men numbering about seven who were suspected to be armed robbers were sighted in a hideout at Ajeonibode area of Mowe where they were perfecting plans on when and how to attack their targeted victims.

Acting on this information, he added that the Divisional Police Officer, Mowe, CSP Saminu Akintunde, quickly mobilised his men and stormed the scene.

Oyeyemi said when they sighted the policemen, the hoodlums took to flight, but with the assistance of members of the community, three among them were apprehended while others escaped.

He explained that items recovered from them are one locally made short gun loaded with two live cartridges, two jack knives and criminal charms.

Meanwhile, he said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.

He also directed a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang with the view of bringing them to justice within the shortest possible period.
