The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a suspected armed robbery syndicate for hijacking a motorbike at gunpoint.
This was contained in a statement issued from the Office of the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.
According to the statement, at about 3 am on Thursday, 1st December 2022, the victim of the stolen motorcycle reported the matter at the Ifonyintedo Division of the Corps under CSC Zaccheous Adeisa.
“The case was transferred to the necessary department of the corps to handle without any hiccups.
“Working on the description of the motorcycle and the alleged robbery suspect, the team was able to apprehend the crime suspect, Mr Oladele Simon, a 48-year-old farmer, who resides at Ashipa-Ikorodu in the Ipokia Local Government Area,” Ganzallo said in the statement.
The corps commander, a seasoned security expert used this medium to call on the general public, especially the motorcycle riders, the commuters and the passengers to always prioritize their security and safety as well.
Ganzallo urged the corps to watch out and be vigilant from the point the engine is on through the journey.
He also advised that passengers should shun using their phones while on a bike as this will definitely assist in proper monitoring of the riders in case of any funny behaviour.
The corps commander, however, noted that the robbery suspect, the exhibit – 1 unregistered hijacked red Boxer Bajaj motorbike, the locally made gun – had been transferred to the Nigeria Police, Idiroko Divisional Police Headquarter for further investigation and likely prosecution.
