The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom Command has renewed commitment to ensure adequate protection of government critical infrastructure in the state during this yuletide period.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Ukeme Umana and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Friday.
Umana said that the command has relocated its state office from Ekpanya Street to a more spacious office complex at No 8, Clement Isong Street, Federal Housing Estate, Uyo for increased efficiency and productivity.
According to him, the commandant, Mr Abidemi Majekodunmi, has commended Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom for the new office allocation.
He said the commandant has assured the government and people of Akwa Ibom of improved performance as they were motivated to contribute more to economic and national security.
“The Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has relocated its command headquarters to a more befitting office complex at Road 8, Off Clement Isong Street, Federal Housing Estate, Uyo.
“The new office space, which is an upgrade from the former, serves as the centre from which all field operations in the state are coordinated.
“An elated Commandant Abidemi Majekodunmi was full of praises for the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, whose magnanimity afforded the NSCDC the office complex.
“He assured the government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State to expect improved performance from himself and his personnel, as they are motivated to contribute more to the country’s economic and national security.
“Majekodunmi re-emphasized his commitment to continue to ensure that government’s critical national assets, oil pipelines and installations, power cables etc are adequately secured,” Umana said.
Umana said that the command vision to set regulations repositioning private guards’ companies for effective performance would be pursued vigorously, as they provide valuable contributions to the security architecture of the state.
He added that the command would continue to collaborate with sister security agencies in the state to combat crimes and provide adequate security and protection for Akwa Ibom people.
