The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Edo State Command has said that the command would provide adequate security in all the worship centres and recreational places in Edo State.
The commandant of the corps in the state, Mr Dan Okon, on Tuesday averred that the 850 personnel had been deployed to that effect.
He stated that the personnel had the mandate to ensure effective provision of security, peace and order during the Easter celebration.
“We will provide adequate security in places of worship, recreational centres, event centres, motor parks as well as other crowded places to prevent any form of threat to lives and properties,” he said.
He urged the residents should go about their legitimate businesses stating that the command had the capacity, and would ensure the protection of lives and properties.
He, however, appealed to the residents to volunteer information on criminals and criminal activities around them for prompt security actions.
Okon, called for collaboration with other sister security agencies and promised to ensure a peaceful collaboration with other agencies for peaceful celebration across the state.
He disclosed that the corps personnel are well equipped to assess and respond to threats.
