The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has congratulated Mr Umo Eno governor-elect in Akwa Ibom for his victory in the just concluded governorship election in the State.
NMA in a statement issued in Uyo on Tuesday by the state Chairman, Dr Emem Abraham commended the governor-elect and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their victory.
Abraham in the statement urged the governor-elect to ensure he works and surpasses the strides of the present administration in the health sector.
“The State Officers Committee of the Nigerian Medical Association, Akwa-Ibom State branch, heartily congratulates Pastor Umo Bassey Eno on his victory at the Gubernatorial polls.
“We are enthusiastic that your government will surpass the strides of the current administration in the health sector. We implore that Medical Doctors’ Welfare and that of other health workers be on the front burner from May 29, 2023.
“We urge other contestants at the 2023 Polls who in their own right are worthy contenders to close ranks and work for the peace and betterment of Akwa Ibom State,” Abraham said.
Eno was declared winner in the just concluded governorship election held on March 18 having polled 354, 348 votes to defeat his closest rival Sen. Bassey Akpan of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) who polled 136, 262 votes.
