NEMA reaffirms commitment to achieving excellence in service delivery

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said the agency has repositioned itself to achieve excellence in service delivery to the people.

The Director General of NEMA, Mrs Zubaida Umar, said this in her keynote address during the Customer Service Week celebration in Uyo.

Umar, who was represented by Mrs Mmandu Aisueni, Head of Operations in Akwa Ibom State, urged personnel to increase their dedication in serving the public and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of communities.

Our Correspondent reports that the 2024 Customer Service Week theme is; “Above and Beyond,” is celebrated annually during the first full week of October.

“As we celebrate Customer Service Week, let us reaffirm our commitment to working above and beyond in achieving excellence in service delivery, innovation and teamwork in all that we do.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger and more responsive agency that stands ready to serve the people and the nation in their times of greatest need above and beyond,” she said.

She called for teamwork among NEMA and critical partners during emergency, stressing that teamwork remains one of the strongest assets in enhancing quality service delivery.

The DG urged personnel and critical stakeholders to seek ways to improve on service delivery to the Nigerian public in line with modern technology.

“The complexity of emergencies requires collaboration across different departments and external partners.

“By working together, sharing knowledge and supporting each other, we can achieve even greater success in fulfilling our mission,” she said.

The director general reminded the workers that as emergency managers, the quality of services delivered could often make a difference between life and death, above and beyond always.

Umar commended the NEMA personnel for putting in their best during emergency management situation in spite of the challenges confronting the agency.

In his goodwill message, Mr Isaac Umana, Desk Officer, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), commended NEMA for always responding promptly to disaster management to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Umana said NEMA has been very dependable partner during emergencies as they are always ready to assist in times of disaster.

The high point of the 2024 Customer Service Week celebration was road walk and sensitisation by NEMA  and critical partners across some major streets in Uyo.
