The newly elected executive members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at the Murtala Muhammed Airport School (MMS) have said they are concerned about the success of every child in the school.

The chairperson of the newly elected executive member, Mrs Rosemary O. Audu, stated that her immediate concern was to train teachers in effective communication and emotional intelligence in managing the students.

Speaking on Saturday during the inauguration of the new executive members, Audu thanked the immediate past chairman, Mr Nath MacAbraham Inajoh and other executive members for their contribution towards supporting consistent, improved moral, and academic standards of the institution.

“As PTA executives, we will ensure the collective success of every child. My immediate concern also will include training for teachers in effective communication and emotional intelligence in managing the student, among others,” Audu said.

She added: “The PTA in the last dispensation, no doubt, laid a robust foundation for the school upon which we intend to build.

“I thank the outgoing PTA executive members for their great contribution, innovation and commitment they invested in their time of service.

“I am using this medium to assure the PTA executives that their achievement was commendable, but the present executives promise to supersede their achievements by the cooperative efforts, support and contribution of each member.”

According to her, the educational system, both in private and in public schools, was facing challenges that required urgent attention by the PTA and all concerned.

She, however, listed the challenges to include inadequate infrastructure for learning, outdated facilities, poor transportation, and lateness in picking up children.

“It has been proven beyond doubt that Murtala Muhammed Airport School, Ikeja has been recognised for academic standard and excellence and I want to urge and encourage both the school management and the parents to collaborate with the PTA for positive ideas, suggestions and better ways to take the school to a greater height of learning,” she assured.

Others who are also elected as executive members are Alhaji Adams Abdullahi, Vice-chairperson; Ezeibekwe Cyprian Chukwudi, Secretary; Bamigbade Adeniyi A., Treasurer; Tugbiyele O.K, Financial Secretary; Obunadike Fidelia Ifeoma, Assistant Secretary; Samuel Mary O., Auditor, and Aderibigbe Ozayiwola A., PRO.
