A speech-impaired child who cannot identify himself or his family has been found by a good Samaritan and handed over to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon who said the boy was found loitering along Aka Road, noted that the child has been handed over to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare.
Speaking on Monday in Uyo, Macdon encouraged members of the public with information on the family of the lost child to contact the police or Ministry of Women Affairs to reunite the child with his family.
“A good Samaritan found this Child wandering about aimlessly around Aka Road. The boy who has speech impairment cannot state his name, parents’ names or address, hence, making it difficult to identify him or trace his Relations.
“The Command has taken the said child to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare and is therefore calling on Members of the Public who may know him or his parents to contact the Police Command or the Ministry for identification and possibly reunite him with family members,” he stated.
