Police operatives in Anambra State in the Okpoko Division, have arrested one Ejike Kanu, ‘m’, 33 for defiling a 7-year-old girl.
Kanu, who hails from Elugwu Mkporo in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State but resides in Umuobom Street, Okpoko, Anambra State, was said to have lured his neighbour child to his wife’s shop, where he had illicit intimacy with her.
The suspect, who was paraded by the police, however, blamed the Devil for his travail, noting: “I did not know how it came about, but it was caused by Devil’s influence.”
It was gathered that police detectives visited the scene and took the victim to a hospital for medical examination, where penetration was confirmed by the medical doctor.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police in the state, John Abang.
But attempts to speak with the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, were unsuccessful as he did not answer calls made into his telephone.
He did not also confirm the text message that was sent to him.
