LASEMA clears Mile 2 multiple accident

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, has cleared the multiply accident at Mile 2 under bridge, inwards Orile Iganmu, as well as, recovered a lone fallen 40ft container at Santa Bus Bus Stop.

A statement signed by Head, Public Affairs, LASEMA, Nosa Okunbor, said the multiple accident involved a truck with number plate MUS 61 XE that rammed into a long TATA Bus with number plate BDG 224 XS, loaded to capacity with passengers and a white commercial bus with number plate FKJ 564 XW, also loaded with passengers and a private motorcycle.

The multiple accident which involved a TATA bus, a white commercial bus and a motorbike, was attributed to mechanical error in the braking system of the truck with number plate MUS 61 XE that rammed into them while descending the Mile 2 bridge inward Orile Iganmu.

Though no casualties, nor fatalities were recorded at the scene of the multiple accidents, the incident led to a total shut down of the entire Mile 2 interchange axis to motorists in the morning before it was cleared by LASEMA.

“Information received by LRT on getting to the scene of the incident revealed that a truck with number plate MUS 61 XE while descending from the Mile 2 bridge inward ORILE experienced a break failure and rammed into a long TATA bus loaded with passengers with number plate BDG 224 XS, a white commercial bus also loaded with passengers with number plate FKJ 564 XW and a private motorcycle.

“However, no casualties nor fatalities recorded at the scene. ThisThis incident has led to the total shutting down of the entire Mile Two axis to motorists.

“LASEMA Response Team, LASTMA, Nigerian Police, FRSC, LNSC and the Nigerian Army wre all responders at the scene, collaborating together to evacuate the accidented vehicles.

“The incident has been successfully recorvered and evacuated from the road with the collaborative efforts of all responders.
The road is good again for free passage of vehicles.

“Operation concluded. Team returning back to base,” the statement read.

Okunbor stated that following the initial operation, LASEMA Response Team on its return journey to base from the above reported incident, discovered a fully loaded 40ft container lying in the middle of the road at Santa bus stop.

According to him, information gathered stated that the truck conveying the container rammed into a pothole along the axis and fell on it’s side, making the container it was ferrying to also fall off.

He said the truck had been recovered with a private tow truck before the arrival of LRT to the scene. However, the container has also been recovered with the heavy duty equipment.
