Lagos crashed helicopter had no fuel – AIB

The Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB has said that the Bell 206B helicopter, which crashed into residential buildings in the Opebi area of Lagos State had no fuel in its tank.

The AIB report which involved the helicopter that was operated by Quorum Aviation Limited was released on Monday.

According to the report, the chopper was fitted with a long-range extender fuel system, adding that the helicopter did not have a capacity for fuel jettison nor data recorder.

The report also indicated that the pilot’s last proficiency check was valid till August 24, 2020. There was no evidence to show that an application for the exemption provided by the AIL DG018/ 20 had been submitted to the NCAA.
