The Ikorodu Local Government chairman, Mr Wasiu Adesina on Thursday, presented N1, 949, 065, 849.80 (one billion, nine hundred and forty-nine million, sixty-five thousand, eight hundred and forty-nine naira eighty kobo) to the council legislators for approval.
He presented the budget before the local government legislative assembly which was presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Adebowale Ajayi.
While presenting the budget he tagged, “Budget of New Beginning” before the councillors, Adesina stated that the local government is hoping to receive a total of N420,147,459.55 as Federal Statutory Allocation for the year.
Adesina added that the Value Added Tax (VAT) is expected to be N1,232,862,162.18 while the projected Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) is put at N105,000,000.; State Coordinated Revenue is projected to be N26, 000, 000.
On expenditure, the chairman stated that personnel cost for staff is put at N384, 594, 402.50; personnel cost (Teachers salary) is put at N395, 127, 475.81 while statutory deductions stand at N116, 259, 474.15.
Overhead got N485, 050, 524.03; Social Services Projection is put at N14, 000, 000. while Non-Current Asset is put at N554, 033, 973.31.
The council boss in his address told the legislators that the proposed budget for 2022, is geared towards achieving a distinct outline, better planning, and execution of physical policies for Ikorodu local government.
He promised that the Ikorodu Local government which was known for peace and reception would continue to be regarded as a formidable family due to the partnership to achieve higher expectations through consistent and unflinching support with fervent prayers and show of love.
Adesina, commended the legislators, management team, and staff of the LG for their collaborative effort as well as wished them a healthy and prosperous new year and promised to surpass his achievements for the year 2021.
“Let me use this medium this opportunity to congratulate everybody present here today, I pray that this year’s achievement will surpass those of past years.
“We will continue to be regarded as one formidable family, as we partner together to achieve higher expectations through our consistent cooperation, support, prayers, and show of love.
“I am using this medium to appreciate our National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on whose ideology we stand.
“I will also appreciate Mr Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu whose theme agenda has helped us to reshape Lagos State and also our political leaders like Mr Abiodun Ogunleye, former Deputy Gov. of Lagos.
“Also, Olorunfunmi Bashorun whom we have also tapped from his vast experience as the former Secretary of Lagos State government,” he said.
The Leader of the House, Hon. Adebowale Ajayi in his speech, commended the Chairman for the success recorded so far in his last administration in the areas of infrastructure, education, health, and security and urged him to intensify more effort.
Ajayi assured the Chairman of the continued support of the legislative arm, adding that they would work I. synergy to ensure that Ikorodu local government is taking to a greater height.
“As legislators, we promised to be consistent in having a robust relationship with you in ensuring that we achieve more development in Ikorodu local government.
“It is a privilege to work with you as we remain resolute and full of optimism based on your antecedent that the scorecard shall remain vindictive in all spheres.
“We promised to give the budget urgent attention to ensure it is approved to facilitate infrastructural projects as it is proposed in the budget,” Ajayi said.
