Three women were feared killed on Monday during a stampede when the hoodlums looted palliatives warehouse in Gwagwalada in Abuja.
A source said that the hoodlums who were in thousands overpowered the soldiers and police who were deployed to man the warehouse.
It was gathered before the looting, many youths, middle-aged men and women were gathered around the warehouse; minutes later, they were joined by motorcyclists.
They were said to have raised concerns that the palliatives were their rights, since they were meant to be shared during the pandemic.
Some of the hoodlums were said to have climbed fences from adjacent compounds near WAEC office while others fought their ways through the back of Fidelity Bank premises.
Apart from the three women killed in the stampede many others were injured. Some, who couldn’t breathe due to suffocation, were taken out of the building and assisted with water.
Items looted by the crowd were bags of rice, cartons of indomie noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, bags of fertilisers, Indorama products, brand new motor bikes, grinding machines, bags of salt, bags of sugar, and cartons of soaps.
