The Akwa Ibom State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Matthew Olonisaye, has urged newly promoted personnel to be more committed and hardworking to win more promotions.
Olonisaye said this on Monday during the decoration of 22 officers and 14 marshals, who were elevated in last year’s promotion exercise by the commission.
The sector commander described the promoted personnel as a very disciplined and hard-working officers that should be emulated by all other staff members.
He urged the promoted officers to continue to maintain the discipline to promote the core value of the corps.
Olonisaye charged the promoted officers to use all the experiences gathered for the growth and uplift of the corps.
The sector commander expressed appreciation to the Corps Marshal, Mr Dauda Biu and the FRSC Board for granting the promotion of a large number of staff of the command for the first time.
He said that much responsibility was expected from all the promoted personnel, stressing that to whom much is given, much is expected.
“The nation greatly appreciates your efforts in reducing road traffic crashes and their attendant consequences on our highways. Your new promotions come with enormous responsibility.
“You are expected to exhibit a high degree of professional orientation that emphasizes democratic values and respect for human rights and dignity while performing your duty, most especially during and after the 2023 general elections.
“The new rank calls for more commitment and dedication to achieving the corporate mission of the Corps which is to eradicate road traffic crashes and create a safe motoring environment in the country,” Olonisaye said.
The sector commander commended Gov. Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom for the support from the state government to the command, adding that the state recorded a reduction in road traffic crashes during the 2022 ember months.
In his remarks, one of the promoted officers, Mr Paul James, said he was honoured by the promotion and attributed it to the grace of God and hard work.
James, who is also the Command’s Public Enlightenment Officer said that the promotion would spur him to perform the task ahead better, saying, “reward for excellence is more work.”
He thanked the sector commander and all his colleagues, who were promoted during the period.
