Four persons died in an auto crash on Tuesday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as a speedy Mazda bus with number plate YYY412XB crashed into an unregistered moving truck within the Ogun State area of the road.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash happened around 6:25 am before the Iperu Bridge.
Spokesperson of the corps, in Ogun State, Florence Okpe, said 10 persons were involved in the crash, four male adults, five female adults and one male child.
She stated that five women and one man were injured in the crash that claimed the lives of two male adults, one female adult, and one male child.
She said: “The suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and light sign violation.
“The Mazda bus driver who was on high speed crashed into the moving truck from behind due to light defect on the truck, that is, the truck rear lights made to signal vehicles from behind could not function.”
According to her, the injured victims have been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the bodies were deposited at FOS, Ipara Morgue.
The Sector Commander of FRSC in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, has advised motorists to fix the necessary requirements in their vehicles before any trip, cautioning them on speed violations.
He sympathized with the families of the victims, advising them to contact the FRSC in Ogere for more information about the crash.
