A former Lagos State Controller of Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Mr Tunde Ladipo, has charged officers to sustain efforts at repositioning the agency as he honourably bowed out of service.

Ladipo, a Deputy Controller-General (DCG) of NCoS, gave the charge during a pulling-out ceremony that signalled his retirement which held at the NCoS headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

Our correspondent reports that the ceremony, which witnessed a guard of honour parade, was attended by senior NCoS officers including Haliru Nadaba, NCoS Comptroller General, friends, and well-wishers.

“Today is a remarkable and special day to me as a journey that started 33 years ago ends gloriously like this.

“This is the first time for a DCG to be honoured at the national headquarters, I am overwhelmed.

“Officers should be dedicated, supportive, disciplined and synergise with the comptroller general and the minister to reposition the service,” Ladipo said.

He admonished officers to be passionate about their job and see the job as a service to humanity as well impact positively on peoples live.

He thanked the NCoS for giving him the opportunity to impact positively on the lives of inmates in different capacities during his career.

“My achievement is touching the lives of every inmate I have worked with; I care for them; I go out of my way to do everything possible to transform them.

“I want them to come out and become better citizens.

“As the Controller of Correctional Service in Lagos State, I was able to train some of those inmates to become graduates.

“I even have two of the inmates that are undergoing PhD degree programme and some with master’s degrees and apart from that, their welfare is so paramount to my heart,” he said.

He encouraged young officers to ensure that the main function of correctional service to reform, rehabilitate and integrate the inmates back into society was achieved.

Ladipo was Commandant Correctional Service Training College (2015-2017) and Controller in charge of Lagos State Command (2017 -2019).

Until his retirement, he was DCG in charge of inmates’ welfare at NCoS headquarters, Abuja.
