At least five passengers were killed, and eight others injured in an auto crash which occurred along Owo/Akure highway in Ondo State.
It was learnt that the crash happened at Emure in Owo council area of the state around 923am.
A resident in the area, said the accident was caused by over speeding and wrongful overtaking by the drivers of the vehicles.
According to him, the vehicles involved are a J5 bus with number plate LSR 855 XF and a DAF 75 truck with number plate AKD 880 XX.
Thirteen persons were said to be in the two commercial vehicles when the incident occurred.
It was gathered that the eight persons injured persons sustained both head and leg injuries.
Spokesperson of the FRSC in the state, Tola Ogunbanwo, confirmed that five persons lost their lives in the accident.
He noted that another eight persons sustained multiple injuries in the crash.
“The deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre FMC in Owo while the injured had been taken to the same FMC for treatment,” she said.
