The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 28 Headquarters, was on Sunday, May 9, 2021, around 6.15 am engulfed in fire.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the fire was contained after the Divisional Police Officer, Ogudu, rushed down the scene of the incident and informed the Lagos State Fire Service about the incident and it was promptly put out the inferno.
Adejobi added that although no life was lost to the inferno, property worth millions of naira were destroyed. He noted that the cause of the fire was unknown.
He said: “Today being 9/5/21 at about 06:15hrs the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 28 HQ, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after China town was on fire.
“The DPO Ogudu who raised down to the scene alerted the Lagos State Fire Service and the fire was put out. No life was lost to the inferno, only the property destroyed. The cause of fire yet unknown.”
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu has ordered the DPO to secure the scene to avoid looting, adding that the Lagos State Fire Service would soon commence investigation into the incident.
