The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has ordered the 31 Transition Chairmen in the state to submit their achievements within their period in office.
Governor Eno had sworn in the Transition Chairmen on December 7 2023, for a six-month period that would expire on June 7, 2024.
However, the governor had last week sent a letter of tenure elongation for the LG Chairmen to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, which the Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong, said will be predicated on the review of activities of each local government council.
As a result, Governor Eno directed the transition Chairmen to submit their achievements in office to the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Frank Archibong, within six days.
In a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr
Ekerete Udoh, on Tuesday in Uyo, the governor said the recorded achievements would ensure effective planning for the government.
“In his determined and avowed drive to ensure accountability and service delivery, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, Governor, Akwa Ibom State, has directed all Transition Chairmen of the 31 Local Government Areas in the State to submit their achievements in the last six months in office.
“The verifiable achievements recorded will enable effective and more robust planning for the next phase of governance.
“Their scorecard should be channelled through the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Local and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, and must reach His Excellency, the Governor, on or before May 20th, 2024,” he stated.
