Akpan Umoh, Uyo
Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has urged the management and staff of Parallex Bank to ensure they live above board in their banking transactions.
Eno gave the advice when he declared open one of the branches of the bank in Uyo on Tuesday.
According to him, since most of the bank’s directors are pastors, they should operate with the highest level of integrity and commitment to enhance growth in the bank.
The governor reminded them that as a bank, whose directors are mostly pastors, the public will be expecting so much from them.
“We are emboldened by the fact that most of the Directors of this Bank are pastors and we hold ourselves to the highest level of integrity, we will hold ourselves to the highest level of commitment because we are pastors.
“I am sure by the grace of God we will leave above board continuously and God will help us.
“Of course, you’ve already shown that in the very short years that you have been around.
“We pray and wish that you will continue to see that growth so that it will be seen that pastors are not just restricted to the pulpits, we can also be in the marketplace and can do extremely well in the marketplace,” Eno said.
Eno assured the bank management of the state government’s commitment to providing a conducive business environment for them to operate.
He said that Akwa Ibom has developed its infrastructure to be a destination of choice in the country, not just for conferences but also for business investment.
The governor urged the bank to partner with the teeming youth in the state and grant them access to facilities for loans to improve their businesses.
“I like to thank you for choosing Akwa Ibom to do business because you are here to stay. You bought this place, built it from scratch and so you have made an investment already, so you are here to stay.
“We will give you all the support that you need. Akwa Ibom right now has become a destination of choice in Nigeria, not just for conferences but also for business and that is why we need more Parallex Bank around here.
“This should not just be your only branch in Akwa Ibom. We expect that from this one, you will open another one.
“We will be working with you to ensure that we give our people the services that they need. At any time, you think you need the government in any way, please do let us know, our doors are always open,” he said.
Earlier, the Chairman of Parallex Bank, Dr Adoela Phillips, said that Parallex Bank, which was given a commercial license in 2020, has grown to be a preferred financial institution in the country.
Phillips said that Parallex Bank is on a mission to change the landscape of banking in the country and to also add value through partnership with our customers.
She added that the bank is dedicated to working with Nigerian citizens to enhance their businesses through their digital banking operations.
The chairman said Parallex Bank in their short period in the banking industry has been able to open about 12 branches across the country.
“Parallex Bank as an institution is an organisation dedicated to working with our country Nigeria and citizens of our various states to achieve record value to build our nation and environment and promote the ideals of our organisation.
“We set out to be the preferred financial institution and as you work with us, you will see that is what you are going to have and you will choose Parallex again and again.
“We are on a mission to change the landscape of banking in our country and to also add value through partnership with our customers,” Phillips said.
The chairman commended the governor and the good people of Akwa Ibom for their warm hospitality towards the bank management.
