Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has assented to the bills passed by the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for the establishment of the Bulk Purchase Agency and the Akwa Ibom State Infrastructure, Asset Management, and Maintenance Agency.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Ini Ememobong, on Thursday evening, noted that the governor also assented to the award of a contract for the construction of 18 economic roads across the state.
Ememobong noted that Gov Eno approved the development of ARISE Park and the construction of a tourist recreational centre with road networks and a pedestrian bridge in Uyo.
Speaking, Ememobong added that the governor assented to the bills during executive meeting which had in attendance HE the Deputy Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Head of the Civil Service, Honourable Commissioners and Special Adviser, Members of the House of Assembly, Chairmen of Boards and Commissions, Permanent Secretaries, Labour Leaders, Civil Society Leaders and relevant Aides of the Governor.
“The governor granted assent to the following bills recently passed by the State House of Assembly: Akwa Ibom State Bulk Purchase Agency establishment Bill and the Akwa Ibom State Infrastructure and Asset Management and Maintenance Agency Bill
“Decisions: Thereafter EXCO was constricted, excusing non-statutory members and handled the following: Award of contract for the construction of 18 economic roads across the state; Approved the development of ARISE Park and the construction of a tourist recreational centre with road networks and a pedestrian bridge in Uyo; “Execution of water projects in 11 Communities across the state;
Commissioning of 2 Model schools on May 7, 2024 (Christ the King School and Ewet Primary School); Pupils will be given free School bags, shoes, and uniforms; HC Works intimated EXCO that over N100bn has been disbursed on 77 road projects since the inception of the current administration, and 36 New Roads; 41 inherited roads,” Ememobong said.
