Eko Bridge: Sanwo-Olu insists on seven days ultimatum to traders

Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed that the seven days ultimatum given to traders to vacate Eko Bridge, stands.

The governor, who spoke to traders during his visit to the Eko Bridge and the Apongbon Market, which were engulfed in fire, stated that government would no longer put up with any traders displaying wear under any bridge in the state.

The governor was in the company of two local government chairmen and some members of his cabinet.

Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Emergency (LASEMA), Oke Osanyintolu briefed the governor on some of the updates concerning the incidents.

It was gathered that apart from Apongbon Market, other markets that were also affected by the fire incident included Irewole, ECOWAS, Asejere markets, and more.

He also inspected the heavy damage the fire caused to the bridge, with some slabs opening and dividing the Eko Bridge at the Apongbon section, outward Lagos Island.

The governor also visited Obalende under the bridge to assess the situation with a view to preventing any form of disaster in the future.
