CP-Decoy Squad operatives foil armed robbery attacks, recover fabricated AK47, others

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command, on Tuesday, saved the state of what likely could have been a serious security issue as it averted a criminal attack on Hausa Market in Asaba, the state capital.

Our Correspondent reports this became possible with the support of some patriotic members, who alerted the police at the sight of the auspicious moment of the criminal agents using a tricycle in the areas and the operatives responded swiftly.

Accordingly, operatives of Command’s CP-Decoy Squad were detailed to the area where the hoodlums, on sighting the police, abandoned a de-faced tricycle and took to their heels.

Upon a thorough search of the tricycle, a fabricated AK 47 rifle, twelve rounds of 9mm live ammunition and 23 live cartridges, all concealed in a black polythene bag and hidden beneath the rear passenger’s seat, were recovered.

The state Police Public Relations (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed this development in a statement, said the effort was being intensified in collaboration with local vigilantes to arrest the fleeing suspects.

“The Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+, appreciates the efforts of the residents in the State who always avail the Command with useful information that aids in crime fighting and urges them to continue to collaborate with the Command, noting that crime has no jurisdiction, as criminals do not have human sympathy and as such should not be allowed to go about their mischievous deeds unhindered.

“He also assures all that the identity of anyone who gives information to the Police will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” the Command’s Spokesman said.
