A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday granted bail to Senator Ali Ndume, who was remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja for standing surely to a former chairman of the defunct Pension Reformed Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrashed Maina, who jumped bail.
The presiding justice, Okon Abang, in his ruling on Monday, granted the application for bail pending appeal, filed by Maina.
According to Abang, he was exercising the court’s discretionary power in favour of Ndume on account of his good conduct during the trial of Maina, who is being prosecuted for alleged money laundering of N2bn.
Ndume, represents Borno South Senatorial District in the Senate.
