Breaking: Obaseki, Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu meet at Oba palace for peace accord

Stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party and those of the All Progressives Congress are meeting at the Oba of Benin, His Royalty Majesty Omo N’Oba Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11 Palace to broker peace to curtail the rising violence during the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

The state governor, Godwin Obaseki; ex-Edo governor and immediate past National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole; APC governorship candidate for Edo, Pastor Ize-Iyamu and his running mate; including a one-time Edo governor and former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun are seen at the meeting.

The two gladiators in the forthcoming election, Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu were seen exchanging friendly hugs to give the peace deal elements of strident commitment for the interest of Edo people and other Nigerians residing in the state.

It was learnt that on Monday, Oba Palace Benin had in its Twitter handle wrote: “Today is a very historic day in the history of Benin for the first time as His Royalty Majesty Omo N’Oba Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, Oba of Benin invites the executive Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and other to the meeting…”

Recall that Comrade Oshiomhole including his entourage was involved in a ghastly auto crash on Tuesday which killed two people while others sustained injuries.

Obaseki, who is also the People’s Democratic Party’s standard bearer tweeted: “I condole with the former governor of Edo State @aoshiomhole and the candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election, @PastorIzeIyamu over the unfortunate road accident, involving their security aides and top chieftains of the party in their campaign team.”

A communique is being expected at the meeting.
