BREAKING: Gunmen attack ABS, raze vehicles, building, injure workers

Unknown gunmen stormed the premises of the Anambra State Broadcasting Services (ABS), Awada, Onitsha Station in the early hours of Monday, razed a building, a company bus, and another vehicle parked on the premises that belong to a worker.

There was no life lost in the attack, but the gunmen were said to have brutalised the employees they met on the premises and inflicted injuries on them.

As of the time of filing this report, a worker who begged for anonymity noted that security agents were interrogating them over the attack.

He, however, promised to give full detail of the attack on them by the gunmen, as he had worked all night and witnessed the attack.

Anambra Broadcasting Service, a state government-owned company, has been supporting the state government in its fight against rampaging gunmen.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the incident.

He said: “Following a distress call today 30/5/2022 at about 4:30 am of a case of arson in Anambra State Broadcasting Station Idemili North, the Police Operatives responded swiftly and prevented the hoodlums from causing damage to the structure.

“Unfortunately, two operational vehicles belonging to the station were affected. No life was lost.

“Meanwhile, the station has been cordoned off and Operation is still ongoing in the area. Further development shall be communicated please,” he said.
