The Bayelsa judiciary on Thursday applauded the media for effective reportage of its activities in the outgoing year and attributed the feat to the efforts of the Media and Information Department of the Bayelsa High Court.
Mr Amaebi Orukari, Chief Registrar, Bayelsa High Court who spoke at the end of year get together of the Media and Information department of the High Court noted that publicising the judiciary was challenging ad judges are not allowed to grant press interviews.
He said that the judiciary values the media coverage provided to highlight its activities and programmes in the process of dispensing justice.
Orukari said that the recognition and honour to outstanding staff of the Media and Information Department and media organisations would boost productivity and morale.
The Chief Judge of Bayelsa, Justice Kate Abiri was honoured with an award for her supportive leadership of Bayelsa judiciary.
Other award recipients at the event include Vivian Gilbert of People’s FM Yenagoa, Nathan Nwakamma , State Correspondent, NAN Yenagoa, Sarah Avoh, a Chief Magistrate, and Queen Odu
Also honoured are Margaret Agbi as Best Staff of the Year, Enoch Okonobo , Ryce Wowigitari, Goddy Lammie, Ebi Kuro of ICT department , ICT Department , Rachael Tiebiri and Amaebi I Orukari – Chief Registrar, High Court
Mr Julius Nyananyo, Head of Media and Information Department said that the award was to show appreciation to outstanding staff and organisations for contributions to the success in the outgoing year and appealed to them to sustain the efforts in the coming year.
