Uduat Ikpat, Uyo
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress Party(APC), Otuekong UduakAbasi Ikpat from Northern Iman ward 2 in Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has raised the alarm over alleged plot to expel Sen. Ita Enang, immediate past Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs who contested for the Gubernatorial ticket of Akwa Ibom State from his party.
Ikpat, in a statement he released to newsmen in Uyo on Friday alleged that some members of the party at the top have concluded plans to expelled Enang for refusing to accept what he described as an “imposed candidate” for the same position he is vying for.
He further revealed that those plotting the expulsion have concluded to exit him from the party through his ward in Ibiono Ibom.
But Ikpat with some majority members of the party in Akwa Ibom have sworned that the expulsion will never see the light of the day.
According to him, Sen. Ita Enang since his entry into the party in 2013, has contributed financially and more to the stability of the party in the State.
“His entry into the party brought back live in APC.The above can be verified from the Party excos in his local government.
“Available records from national secretariat of APC show that Sen. Ita Enang was the first person to pay for, and issued with expression of interest form in the entire country.
“As a founding member of APC and a concerned citizen of this state, I humbly appeal to the leadership of APC in Eastern Ward 2, not to succumb to pressure. The leadership of APC in Ibiono Ibom LGA should not allow this to happen. This is undemocratic and should be condemned. Sen. Ita Enang should not be expelled from the party, ” Ikpat stated.
