A’Ibom PDP dumps female aspirant after buying form, now lives in church

A female aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming House of Representatives primaries in Akwa Ibom State, Honourable Mfon Ekong, has taken her matter to the court of heaven as she had been dumped after selling her property to purchase the party nomination form The Trumpet gathered.

The aspirant, who is now homeless, has taken refuge at the Mount Zion Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, Eka Street, Uyo, where she is fasting and praying. She said that she had nothing else to do but commit her aspiration to God and that God would surely answer her prayers

Ekong; a former Chairman of Nsit Ibom local government area said that it was the turn of her local government area to produce the next House of Representatives member for Etinan Federal Constituency.

She disclosed that she had intimated the immediate past state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo of her ambition and got his support and endorsement.

But in a turn of events, the former state Chairman, Ekpo, who had bought a form to run for Uyo Senatorial District seat, turned around to purchase a form for the same House of Representatives seat which he had encouraged Mfon Ekong to contest for.

Ekpo did not debunk the allegations made against him by Ekong as he refused to pick up calls from The Trumpet or reply to text messages sent to his phone.

Narrating her ordeal, Ekong who is a former member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, representing Nsit Ibom, said: “I did not want to speak about this, but a lot of people are saying that I conceded to Ekpo. I did not concede. I will contest till the very end. I am consulting. Ekpo cannot cause me to sell the only house I built, and then turn around to betray me.”

“He bought a form for the Senate the same day I bought my own form. We went together. He was the one that encouraged me to sell my property to prosecute this election.” Paul Ekpo told me to consult the elders and that he would ensure that his delegates support me.

Because of that, I consulted him first. He collected the drink I took to him, took part of the cash I brought, and said he wouldn’t take the cash, but to show that he supports my aspiration he had to take very little and return the rest to me. Then he and his wife told me that I have to go to consultations with him (Paul) so that we could use one stone to kill two birds,” she lamented

“Paul (Ekpo) knows that I got nothing from this government since they robbed me of the chance to return to the State House of Assembly. I sold everything I had to prosecute that election which they robbed me of. And now Paul Ekpo has caused me to sell my house. I will sleep in the presence of God and cry until my prayers are all answered.,” she cried out.
