2 Brigade Nigerian Army will this weekend hold the West African Social Party (WASA) as an annual event for interaction among personnel and their families and the civil populace.
This is contained in a statement issued by Lt. Adebowale Adejimi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army in Uyo on Tuesday.
Adejimi said WASA had always been organised in line accordance with the Traditions, Customs and Ethics of the Nigerian Army.
“The West African Social Activities (WASA) has been an annual event to further social activities in the NA Barracks since the establishment of the Nigerian Army.
“This accords with the traditions, customs and ethics of the Nigerian Army.
“The importance of WASA cannot be overemphasised as it provides the medium for social interaction among personnel and their families as well as civil populace.
“It provides a medium for enriching civil-military cooperation and also displays the cultural values of various ethnic groups in Nigeria,” Adejimi said.
Adejimi added that WASA provides an avenue for recognising and awarding soldiers who distinguished themselves during the year.
